Saif Ali Khan’s Inheritance At Risk: Enemy Property Act Threatens Pataudi Family’s ₹15,000 Cr Estate

The Pataudi family faces the potential loss of ancestral properties worth ₹15,000 crore after the Madhya Pradesh High Court lifted the stay on their acquisition under the Enemy Property Act, 1968. These include the Flag Staff House and Ahmedabad Palace, where Saif Ali Khan spent his childhood. The properties became controversial due to Nawab Hamidullah Khan’s eldest daughter, Abida Sultan, migrating to Pakistan in 1950. As per the Act, the Central government can claim properties of those who migrated to Pakistan post-Partition. Saif Ali Khan had inherited his share through his grandmother, Sajida Sultan, who was declared a legal heir in 2019.

Moral of the story. Nothing is permanent

very misleading short. Sajida was NOT recognized as the legal heir, Abida was. Hence the 'Enemy Property Act' is applicable. India Today is spreading misinformation.

When saifs grandma stayed in india and was declared as legal heir then there is no point to declare it as enemy property.

People aggressively saying it’s his property need to dig deeper and find how the ancestral property was acquired in first place. We know how the Nizam of Hyderabad acquired

Its Stupid to say enemy property when the heir still in India.

All is fine but did they name it “enemy property” for the property of people who migrated to Pakistan.
Before the partition, we were one, weren’t we? It was the govt who asked people to migrate and then address them as “enemy” 😢

The legal heirs were three sisters, one sister ran away to Pakistan so only the one - third property comes under enemy property. Rest property remained to those 2 sisters and considered as their legal property.

That's ridiculous. It went to the next legal heir- the younger sister who remained in India. If there was no other legal heir and some stranger had grabbed it (like they did to properties of fleeing hindus in Pakistan), then it would make sense.

His grand father and grand mother who were the actual owner stayed as Indians.. and on what basis the property will become energy property?? Government will take over and government officials will eat the fruits ..

if muslim ruler illegally occupied our country properties, then there is nothing wrong for govt to take it back. They are not enemies properties... Illegally occupied properties.

What's happened was that the child migrating to Pakistan got property of Hindu/Sikh who were killed there. And the child who stayed in India got the ancestral properties. So double bonanza while the Hindu refugees got nothing. That's why Enemy Property Act is applicable

So whole property in punjab is enemy property . Most the houses in doaba regions were abandoned by muslims in partition . That doesnt even make any sense.

Entire waqf properties should be declared as enemy property and government of India should take it over

That’s his property, govt doesn’t have any right to take it from him

In Kerala, all such filthy properties were redistributed by law enacted in 1957. This set a level playing field for its population starting from the beginning of the constitution of the state. The result is there to see. Poverty is less that 1% in the state. What is the poverty level in Madhya Pradesh?
