'The O'Reilly Factor': Bill O'Reilly's Talking Points 1/5

Bill really missed it on this one.   There should be no registration of guns ownership at the state or federal level.   If you buy a gun from a gun dealer, by all means, go through a back ground check, no problem here.  If I want to give a gun to my daughter, brother, son, nephew or grandchild,   they should not have to go through a back ground check.   The things the president outlined today will do nothing to solve the mass murder or murder in general, after all, murder is already illegal.   Does he, the president, believe or any rational person believe that a person with ill intent on their mind won't do so because they would be breaking a law.   I think not.  This is just another move by the left to infringe on our rights as Americans.  The president using cars as an example of taking safety measures is laughable.   Owing or driving a car is not a right under the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution.  Wake up people and don't be persuaded by a smooth talking lefty or righty.

I saw a stat recently that noted 85% of prison inmates came from single-parent households. Putting a mandatory 10 years on a gun-crime would be a deterrent, and It seems easier to do that, rather than make it mandatory for parents to be self-less, or go to prison themselves for 10 years. Some single parents do actually break the cycle - Dr. Ben Carson's wonderful mom comes to mind. Good parenting is a Godsend for any youth. Ask any grown man or woman you see on any street to confirm it, or, ask any prison inmate.

Mr. O'Reilly, THIS is why I need to watch you more often. You battle issues with common sense logic, not emotional rhetoric with an agenda. Thank you so much for speaking the TRUTH.

Whenever I hear the word "Truth" said on Fox News I almost piss myself laughing.

Hey Bill- you forgot to show the most important gun statistic:
Only approx. 350 homicides are committed by assault rifles each year, on average. *350*, out of tens of thousands of gun deaths!
Conclusion (of any sane person): assault rifles are not a problem, are not a public safety issue. Handguns on the other So, stop calling for an assault rifle ban, you do your viewers a grave disservice.

The idea of adding 10 years to any crime that involves use of gun is hilarious. So someone that kills a person with a shot in the head will get 10 years more than someone that kills a person by taking his heart out with a spoon... and that makes sense...

What if we did the same thing about Child Rapist to set up sting operations to buy guns on the black market and start putting many of these guys selling guys in Jail for 10 years min

Then you get in the argument about separation of powers and why the legislative and executive branches are dictating what the judicial branch does with the law they are suppose to enforce. Mandatory minimums are shown to hurt more than the good they do.

he is saying the President should of said"If you have a gun and you do a act of criminals activities then you'll be in jail longer. Do her really think people who do any crime with a weapon is thinking about jail....How did he get this tv show again. So if they president enforce more background checks he is doing wrong. So he should talk to the criminals about years in jail they will do...I love how this world goes around and around

So someone with a nonviolent minor drug offense that falls into the felon category can not get a gun?

As Imam Shamil said: "Look on older one as he is your father, on same age as he is your brother, on smaller as he is your son, and you won't find enemy in your country".
Guns bring more guns, violence brings more violence.

we need to make people responsible, if you gift, give access to, or sell a gun to someone that should not have access you should be charged when and if this person misuses that gun

i understand universal background checks not because i think it would make a big difference but because selling to a felon or nutjob is obviously illegal but what the fuck is a registry for? legal gun owners are not criminals why would you need them to be in a database???

This is obviously a very complex issue. Let's face, there are no right answers on this one. At this point, all options need to be on the table. Bill made some very good points; as did the President. It will be interesting to see what Congress' response will be. I hope that they do something rather than nothing. I'm not very optimistic. However, stranger things have happened.

Here is my take on this issue, . If you think I'm wrong or agree please feel free to continue the dialog. A lot of people who talk about this don't seem to understand that each state is different when it comes to guns. In Virginia for example, there is no gun registration. There also is no required documentation of the selling of a firearm, nor needed background checks when selling privately. In other words, there is almost no accountability when it comes to the transfer of firearms in VA. I'm sure we are not the only state like this. When it comes to "increasing the black market" and "terrorists are going to get guns and kill anyways" I think there is a bit of fallacy in this argument. Sure, some people who are very intent on killing other people will look to the black market to obtain guns, but when you have to purchase something on the black market the price goes up tremendously. What are the statistical chances that some disgruntled mentally ill person will go out of his way to find a black market gun dealer and pay a premium just so he can shoot some people he used to work with? You have to ask yourself, if guns are free reign then what is the likelihood of a disgruntled person making an impulse purchase? What is the likely hood of that impulse purchase if it's much harder to get because you have a known history of mental illness, or violence? Of course this will not stop gun violence, but will it diminish it, even slightly? That is a discussion worth having.
