Simon is so right about this. Blackmail TV subscriptions are preventing so many folks from watching the game. There are far more affordable business models out there now that can generate more money for the game, some of which could, and should, be invested at grass roots level.

Spot on! The price of Sky TV is just too much compared to the streaming networks. The only reason I have kept it this long was due to the monopoly they have with football. Can't wait for a change so I can afford to continue to watch my team.

Agree with Simon it has to happen and will at some time..

Mate, Simon is spot on there, a Netflix style subscription model would rack in billions for the Prem while also making it so convenient and affordable for fans all over the world to follow their team and the Prem, I know this from experience currently living out in China.

It’s crazy that in 2022 we can’t watch our teams play every game! 😤

Im a Surrey cricket fan. Live streaming on YouTube has revolutionised my ability to follow the team. No doubt one day it will become a subscription service but being able to see every game my club plays is a big incentive to pay up. The same must hold for my favourite football club if I can watch every home and away game live.

He’s spot on. I’ve recently cancelled my sky subscription and I’ll be watching football by other means. I’m fed up with their bias towards the big teams, constant pushing of agendas and the price has got out of control. It’s just not worth it anymore. I’d happily pay £10 a month for Premier League streaming service. The way Amazon have done it in recent years was perfect, it’s a shame they don’t have more games.

My Dad bought this up roughly 10-12 years back. It blew my mind and I still cannot believe it hasn't happened

In America we pay $4.99 a month for peacock premium, which has every English premier league game live or on demand. Kind of crazy to hear how much you guys in the uk have to pay to watch your own league.

Aside from the astronomical costs of Sky Sports what really gets to me is the crazy number of adverts.

Bang on Simon. Premier League fear low attendances which is why they 'apparently' ban 3PM Saturday, but in actuality it means fans could get tickets where they couldn't before so attendances won't be affected at all.

Here in China I pay £40 a year for every Premier League game with the direct PL broadcast so you get English commentary, half time documentaries etc.

This would be my dream. I hate having to have NBC Sports, Peacock, and an antenna.

The PL should have their own streaming service and if the government doesn't want to get rid of the 3PM ban, just move to 2 or 4pm kick off times. Look at how many viewers an FA Cup game on BBC costs vs a PL game on Sky or BT. The numbers are night and day. Obviously the BBC is free but what we've seen from iTunes, Netflix, Spotify etc is that if you charge a reasonable price for a product with consistent quality, people will pay for it rather than seeking out pirate options.

MLS football is really great. Commentary needs improving but the stadiums have improved, the level of play gets better each season and some clubs have great support. They also moving to European style academies. No longer a league for old men.

Simon, we've had this setup for PL games in the US since NBC brought the rights nine years ago. Their peacock streaming channel gives us access to EVERY PL game for $52 / year.

It may start at £9.99 but it won't stay at that much for long I can remember when we was only paying sky like £19.99 for all the football and the European stuff was on itv. Now we paying about 150 quid a month
