China and 20 countries are collaborating to build a new Grand Canal, creating a new Asia-Europe route. This project aims to provide a direct link from China's Xinjiang region to the Mediterranean Sea, altering the global shipping pattern. The plan includes the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, which passes through multiple countries, bypassing Russia. By utilizing the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, goods can be transported from Xinjiang to Europe more efficiently. Additionally, there is a possibility of constructing a canal across Kazakhstan, connecting Xinjiang directly to the Mediterranean Sea via inland seas and lakes. Very interesting video! I think it could do with more maps and maps on a smaller scale so that the position of the canal in the map of Eurasia as a whole could be seen more easily. I imagine, that if the ancient Chinese could build the Grand Canal in China, from North to South, the modern Chinese can build a canal from China to Europe! How about a tunnel going under the Urals?

China has the expertise and more importantly, she has the will power and willing to work with other countries for a win-win outcome. Very critical for China not to be throttled and strangled in and around the Straits of Malacca and minimize the traffic through the South China Sea. Contingency plans must be made well in advance. Overall, good idea and it should be proceeded as soon as practical.

There is a dry valley around 120m high, between Ob basin and Aral Sea Basin, then a canal can link Irtych River to Caspian Sea, using Ob Basin waters. And that will help south ok Kazakhstan become green. But going out of the Caspian Sea by Volga river you arrived in Mourmansk bay of the artic Ocean or in Saint Petersbourg and in the quasi closed by EU Baltic Sea or by Volga Don Canal in the Black sea whose detroits are controlled by Turkey. Always potential problems! May be more trains will be better because trains can easily go economically with electricity instead of ships?

The canal between Volga & Ob is already exist, but its not for shipping. This canal is connected Chusovaya river with Iset river. No need to create a new canal 1200 km long.

To dig a 1000 km canal is easy . .just get TWENTY CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES ...each dig 50 km sections simultaniously . . one km per day . . 1000 km canal is ready in 50 days ! ! THATS HOW U DO IT ! !

Graphics could be better. Less switching between maps with each showing only partial details would be better. Ie. present using maps that show as much info on each sub topic as possible.

Its the humbleness of china not to take water from its brahmputra river, leave it for poor indians AND rather make this russia canal to fulfill its requirements.... great china...god wish china remains great, hard working, equality soverign nation for endless time.👍

This is a good informative video! We hope to see such a good canal dug; to facilitate all the five rivers to unite; and form a Corridor; under BRI connecting China and all the twenty neighbouring countries to the Mediterranean sea at the shortest possible route; to avoid relying heavily on a longer Malacca strait or the Antarctic route to reach the Mediterranean sea and vice-versa.

The question is why are these countries wasting their time and energy taking the routes of 12000 Km each to reach the Mediterranean sea when they could have constructed a shortest path by now!

Since, all the 20 neighbouring countries including Russia and China have signed the contract so anytime in near future we may see this project coming to its successful fruition.
