Let it be said that Dragoneer was not a universally beloved figure, even among his own site users. Dude has a rocky history and a lot of controversial moments and things he's said and done. At one point he hired a black hat hacker that was well known in the community, and there was also a time when he (illegally) started gathering/selling user information without disclosing it or allowing people to opt-out for potentially more than a week before someone noticed and pointed it out. (He used a hurricane as an excuse for not disclosing it sooner which most people saw through as bullshit)

Just one correction - Dragoneer actually bought FA back from IMVU and the site hasn't been associated with them for years, so the site is entirely independent.

If domains can be hack like this and a company owner don't do anything, any site is pretty fucked regradless as to what they are. This year so many people's info been leaked and just hearing companies still not doing anything is scary.

It really didn’t take long to get back. Furries are a huge part of technical infrastructure, what’d you expect?

So you know, when Furaffinity was sold to IMVU, the community didn't know about it for a while after that happened, and shortly after IMVU was made public as owning furaffinity, they made a few changes that the community collectively HATED. At one point we were told that FA was owned by, well, the group that originally owned it, but it turns out IMVU is still being paid back things behind the scenes.
