Did You Think to Pray?

Ere you left your room this morning,
Did you think to pray?
In the name of Christ, our Savior,
Did you sue for loving favor
As a shield today?

Refrain: Oh, how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day.
So, when life gets dark and dreary,
Don’t forget to pray.

2. When your heart was filled with anger,
Did you think to pray?
Did you plead for grace, my brother,
That you might forgive another
Who had crossed your way?

3. When sore trials came upon you,
Did you think to pray?
When your soul was full of sorrow,
Balm of Gilead did you borrow
At the gates of day?

Text By: Mary A. Pepper Kidder, 1820–1905

Music By: William O. Perkins, 1831–1902

Scriptual Reference: Psalm 5:3, 12; Mark 11:24–25

from Karen : This so so very lovely. Thank - you so much for your beautiful voices and your wonderful spirit. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and this is one of my favorite hymns in our 'Mormon' hymn book. We are meeting in our chapel, only less than 50 permitted, so we are still also having our church meetings on line because of the pandemic. You will be singing our opening hymn on Nov. 1st. !
