Dramatic video shows cliffside rescue on Sonoma Coast

Officials deployed a rescue chopper to the Sonoma Coast after a vehicle accident was automatically reported by its on-board crash notification system — only to find the car wrapped around a tree approximately 200 feet down from the roadway, with no sign of passengers, police said.

After scouring the surrounding area for 45 minutes, they located the victim some 350 feet away from the wreck and safely carried them to safety.

The victim was found critically injured and is expected to survive, officials say.

I was rescued by one of these helicopters back in 2018. I had a really bad seizure in Flintridge, CA. Due to the location being a forest, the helicopter was deployed to assist me. I’ll never forget how patient those pilots were & how that experience was. One moment I’m fine, next thing I’m waking up on a gurney in a helicopter. We landed at Huntington Hospital such a wild experience. Hefty medical bill too lol

Thank you to our Triune omnipotent and omnipresent God for leading the right people to rescue this person and anyone else involved in this tragedy, keeping them safe and alive. Thankfully! These dedicated people whose responsibility to rescue people in this steep mountainous terrain are a very thorough and determined rescue TEAM . Didn’t look like he was ejected - looked more like he kicked out the window to get out and try to get back to the road himself. Didn’t really have the injuries to have been ejected through a window to that far away!
