TS100 Unboxing and First Boot Review

I bought a TS100 from Zapals online, plus an additional tip for the iron.

Just a quick unbox, plug-in check with a random power supply (I think it was for a USB HDD Dock I had) which was 12V to check that it works and heats up, which it does. I tested the spare tip too with similar results.

Interestingly it looks like the auto-shutdown/temperature cut-off protection mechanism works very fast (makes sense to protect such a small unit) and is effective in preventing overheat of the unit.

One thing as a note, it is very light (30g or so!) the cable from the power supply weighed more, and was actually pulling the back of the iron, causing a tip lifting kind of pressure. I would say that having a suspended cable bungee would help reduce this if it was a problem.

The issue is the power supply, 12 volts is the bare minimum to run this iron. Mine came with a 19 volt PS and they really work best with a 24 volt PS.

Just so you know the power cable should be a DC 5525

And if you want more options you should take a look at the ralim Firmware.

And if you have a 3D printer you should search for ts100 on Thingiverse there are a couple of cases and stands on there that are quite good.

Two questions can you measure the outer diameter of the power supply plug.second did you solder a board with it? I heard and read the manual and it says the outer temp gets to 60degree Celsius after 40min. Btw this is the only vid talking about the TS-100 for keyboard soldering that's what I want to use it for as my main iron but I need more real world use info because the price is the same as the larger Hakko fix-888d that use old style tips were the heating element and censor is not in the soldering tip
