Australia is home to some of the most unique and magnificent nature in the world. The country has vast savannahs and grasslands, tropical rainforests, endangered flowering gum forests and diverse woodlands that provide shelter to our most precious threatened species.

Australia is one of the worst developed countries in the world for broadscale deforestation—killing tens of millions of native animals (including threatened species) and wiping out endangered forests and woodlands. In fact, we’ve cleared nearly half of our forest cover in the last 200 years!

And you wanna know the best bit the removal of ALL of the trees eventually causes the water table to rise and with it the salt in the ground, so the ground becomes gradually less productive not to mention the wind erosion and the screwed soil biology. Agri-Forestry anyone?

To the people who were saying that was wrong what would you do if you were the land owner? And had to pay the taxes how do you get the money to do that? The land has to pay for it's self something to think about!

That seems like a very efficient way to clear ground to plant crops.

That country could have been strip cleared or selectively logged and there would have been enough grass for cattle.
I'm not against dozers with chains but this type of country could be more productive with some of the trees left.
