The color profile on the Action 2 is much brighter but other than that it's really hard to tell the difference between the two cameras. I just picked up the Action 2 and recorded my first video with it and I'm loving it.
I will say, I am using it to record candle videos so nothing crazy. I wanted something small to pack around and also use for up close shots that require a nice small camera.
I'm surprised at how much I liked the audio after using every other action camera out there and never being fully impressed.

The biggest con I can see with the action 2 is the lack of lens cover, but again I am not doing any action stuff with it. LOL
It does make me nervous carrying it around though, I am still placing it back into the box sleeve when Im not using it though to keep it safe. I don't have to do that with any other camera.

They’d cut the camera and act weird and have technical difficulties.

I just got a Insta360 Go2. It will compliment my GoPro Hero 7 Black action camera. I wanted a camera that is small, super portable, easy to move between mounts, and fun to use. The Go2 is that camera. Plus the horizon levelling for a very tiny camera is awesome!

It depends on the user tbh, go with the Go2 if you want something cheaper and okay with certain limitations of the camera. Go with Action 2 if you want a more tech-advanced action/vlogging camera. Personally I think the Action2 is the better choice!

I am looking for my first action cam, mainly for use whilst running. Will they both stay secure with the magnetic lanyard under a running top? Or better cap or head mounted?

I have the Go2 now and testing this week and it blows me away. So little so powerful and when it cones to accessoires so incredibly cheap and convenient. The Action 2 for me is marketing Everybody expected an action cam and we got a vertical Insta360 R.
I love the insta360 editing features and especially the varioys aspect ratios!

Thanks David for again another nice video. Always enjoy them. We went with the GO 2. Our daughter intends to start making videos for her new pup which was a factor. We were able to get a pet kit harness as well as a selfie stick that works really well for the GO 2 and it's home. Stabilization, editing in pro, removable lense cover and the ability to swap it with an ND filter lense cover were all factors. The GO 2 crazy small size also allows you to vlogg make really interesting POV perspectives and the accessories it comes with and that you can get just work. And while it may not be 4k the video looks really good. I sound like a bit of a fan boy. Sorry. Hope these comments help someone else. All the best with your family.

I'm a bicycle tourist and like small lightweight cameras to use on the helmet and occasionallyl switch to a stick or handlebar mount. The Action 2 and GO2 seem like a better fit over my GoPro Hero 8. The Action 2 is easier to switch with its magnetic mounts. Sold the GO2 because it generates huge files and requires work in post to get the desired stabilization. So the Action 2 will likely be my bike touring companion. Thanks for all your good and interesting videos!

I had the insta go2 but if the light is not perfect, the image is not clear. So I sold it and got the dji. And is great. Image is amazing. Now if insta would get a new go3 with better sensor, I would get it.

I am a cyclist who does a lot of road cycling but also MTB, and I use a lot of different accessories for getting the desired stuff, it is sometimes that I will end up using a selfie stick for other projects and so fourth but I have the GO2 and the ACTION 2 and for me if I am worried about something being high quality then I go the Action 2 but if I need a camera out on the jumps I go the go 2.

The two issues I had with the G2 was it would overheat at around the 9 minute mark and I had to do the extra step of dropping my footage in another app in order to edit it in Fcpx. Then if you had multiple clips you had to export them one at a time.

I returned my Action 2 because of software-, overheating-, dark image- and reliability problems. But one pro is that you have your footage always ready for editing. With Insta360 you need to export in an additional step before you can use it with other software. You can adjust more after shooting but it takes more time, errors (my One R freezes all the time, still in beta phase?) and work.

You can magnetize filters to the front of the action 2. With a bit of tape it would be a lens cover for a fpv drone
