I'm not sure if you'll read this comment, but I really enjoy your breakdowns because, as a non reader of the Dune books ( which I do plan on reading them), you really cover many parts to help understand and make connections. I'm able to re-watch the episode with a better keen eye and really appreciate this series more. So thank you for sharing these breakdowns, details and thought predictions. I can't wait for your next one.

-I love the cinematography! I do watch it on the biggest screen in the house though.
-Actually I believe the Mother Superior was surprised or taken aback that Kiran is an Atredies because of the feud between them and the Harkonens started after The War of the Thinking Machines.

there's an old story called "the tale of two wolves" that deals with a person being torn between 2 different choices of which voice in their head to listen to. basically the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. seeing as how this is dealing with voices whispering all the time and the poor girl's decision to not run towards the light but listen to the voice urging her to stay so she could help the sisterhood could be the allegory the writers meant.

I really love how its a deeper branch and perhaps interpretation of franks herberts vision, ive yet to read the books but am so far enjoying the series

I think the dead creatures shown in the intro are a nod to house Harkonnen. They appear to be whales, not wolves, which they established in episode one with the talk of whale fur being their main export and the resource that keeps the family barely afloat in affluence.

I read Frank's novels in the 1980s as a teenager. I'm a big fan of slow burn shows and the way this series is It's good and I think 6 episodes will go by fast. This show drips with good writing....minus the needless sex scenes.

Its definitely setting up lore and background stuff. It still has plenty of money left to give us some really cool shots.

The two poisons were different. The one in dune 2 was the bile of a drowned worm. The poison in prophecy was a plant.
