My husband grumbled at me once about how I stay in bed in the mornings on my phone while he got the boy ready for school, so I showed him my bullet journal for the week which helps me track everything I need to keep in mind for the week. It is full of reminders of payment schedules due that week, reminders for timing on all of the child's extracurriculars (which I take him to, as my husband works evenings), all my work to-do lists, the home to-do lists, the list of things needed to be done before a major trip we're taking early next year. School PTA tasks, doctor's/bank/dentist appointments, grocery list, etc etc. And yes, I delegate some of that stuff, but if I don't remind someone or do it myself, it doesn't get done, so I have to remember it all. And all this with an ADHD brain. So, yes, I think I've earned a lie-in in the mornings before I sign in for work while hubby gets the child ready, thankyouverymuch!

I remember when my hubs told me pretty much exactly the same thing my first time away. The next time thereafter, I let the laundry pile up all week, didn’t wash dishes for 2 days before I left, and did zero grocery shopping for the whole week. He had a different perspective when I returned from that women’s retreat. 😂

My husband took care of our 1 year old full time for two weeks while o recovered from giving birth to our second daughter. His first day back to work after paternity leave, I received a text from him saying he has a completely new respect for what I do everyday. He already respected it, but he has a new understanding of exactly how much I do for our home and I still was there to help and he didn't even do a good portion of the things I typically do as well as the daily chores.

When I was in hospital giving birth to my 3rd baby my husband said he can't wait to go back to work since it is less stressful than staying home.
We work in the same job. I agree.

I have to remind myself when I am away and my husband sends me a picture of the sparkling clean kitchen at the end of the day, that he didn’t actually have to cook any meals. I cooked them and he just heated them up. Of course he has the time and energy to get the kitchen sparkling again.

I was in the hospital for 3 days and was sure it would make him appreciate me. But he had his mom do all the cooking and laundry, her neighbor (who used to teach preschool) and his niece take care of our toddler, the mom across the street who also homeschools take the teenager, and they all took turns caring for the baby. I hired someone to walk the dogs and a cleaner for our house (with my wfh money). And the baby still didn’t get any tummy time, the curriculums fell apart, no one slept properly, but was still told I have it easy.

lol doing it for one day isn’t hard. It’s doing it for weeks, and months, and years. All while also staying up in the night with sick kids, babies to feed. I went away for a week and my husband’s tune changed and he was a great husband before I left. More understanding when I came back.
