Arizona's Independent voters using primary to vote strategically

Independent voters are a wild card in Arizona's upcoming primary election. Their goal as voters is to vote strategically to defeat extremism.

The first time I went to vote about 20 years ago, I was told that I couldn't vote because I didn't vote in the primary. I didn't know any better back then, but wonder how many people are turned away because of something like this.I found out later that you don't have to vote in the primary to be able to vote in the general election. How many people have been told this? The last election my brother was turned away as well, I'm not sure the reason but I remember it was not correct, but he didn't know much about voting being his first ever voting. Then in the 2020 election you saw or hear of people being told to use "sharpie" to fill out their ballot which automatically voids the ballot...I wonder how many ballots have not been counted due to this or how many people are told they can't vote for some reason or another and if they don't know the rules, how would they know any different?? If this happened to me and my brother, how many more are there? The people who are in charge of registering people or those at the voting places need to be trained properly and charged with a crime if they do this to others like they did to me and my brother. Yes this was in Arizona!

The republicans in Massachusetts long ago eliminated this. Just make it party members only, independents can only vote after the primaries are over. No switching on voting day. We so need federal election standards. Like every other democracy on earth. We are still on the earth, aren’t we?

Independent voters who will vote in the GOP primary will NOT vote Lake.

I didn't know Arizona allowed this. Food for thought, thanks. Florida did not allow independents to request primary ballots, I think this is a great idea. I don't want extremists from either party, generally the election is a choice of the lesser of two evils.

As a progressive, and depending on the particulars of my precinct, I'll often select a Republican ballot just to advance the craziest nutbag (space lasers, Veneuzulan ballot flippers, etc.) just to watch their humiliation in the general election debates!

This strategy can however backfire so use with care!
