Mangroves are important to people because they help stabilize coastline ecosystem and prevent erosion. #Mangroves also provide natural infrastructure and protection to nearby populated areas by preventing #erosion and absorbing storm surge impacts during extreme weather events such as hurricanes.

This simple model from Dutch research institute Deltares makes it very easy to understand how mangroves protect the coast from the impact of waves.

The ecosystem services provided by mangroves are incredible. They protect the coastal areas of islands and countries on the coast. Unfortunately due to corrupted money minded and uneducated politicians, all these resources are destroyed. If these resources are destrcted, an imaginable damages would occur in another 10 years of time...

This is also why they plant a lot of trees in between highways and residential areas, tress dampen the sound waves/noise pollution of highway traffic.

I’m trying to remember when I was a kid seeing tarpon swimming around near trees that were basically in the water, that had large root systems? Maybe mangrove 🤔 (I was very young)
