How mangrove forests protect the coast

Mangroves are important to people because they help stabilize coastline ecosystem and prevent erosion. #Mangroves also provide natural infrastructure and protection to nearby populated areas by preventing #erosion and absorbing storm surge impacts during extreme weather events such as hurricanes.

This simple model from Dutch research institute Deltares makes it very easy to understand how mangroves protect the coast from the impact of waves.

Unfortunately due to corrupted money minded and uneducated politicians, all these resources are destroyed. If these resources are destrcted, an imaginable damages would occur in another 10 years of time...

I’m trying to remember when I was a kid seeing tarpon swimming around near trees that were basically in the water, that had large root systems? Maybe mangrove 🤔 (I was very young)
