It was actually the Australian Labor Party who introduced the 40 hour work week and minimum age/wage requirements, inspiring the American movement.
Then the conservative movement was formed by the wealthy and overly entitled, to counteract such evils as universal healthcare, education and equity for all.

Stay strong with your union efforts, I’ve worked union my entire work life. I have a fabulous retirement and health care for life for me and my wife. No one gave it we negotiated each and every benefit we currently have. Did we compromise? Sure but it was a vote from our membership who felt it was a fair offer. Stay strong, American works best when we say “Union Yes!”

The 'find a better job' slur is easily countered with 'find cheaper workers'. Maybe they should move to China, since it better aligns with their views.

My ex gf generated $5k of Starbucks sales over a 3 day work week and was paid $300 roughly throughout college. I'm guessing she easily made that store at least a million dollars during her 4 years.

The boss does not know where the power, gas, air conditioning, water, refrigeration, and oven controls and their shut-offs, programming & lock-outs are. The employees do & they have the spare keys.
The employees can shut you down & lock you out or you can co-operate & enjoy the security & richness of each other's trust & respect.

Capitalism in America is out of control!! I just can't understand this greed of these Corporations!! They can afford to pay their employees a decent wage, and still live comfortably, but just refuse to do it!! Compared to other civilized countries the US treats their workers the worst, so please tell me why so many think this is the greatest country!!
