The use of toxic chemicals in warfare goes back thousands of years, but World War I saw the first large-scale use of chemical weapons. They were mainly used to demoralize, injure, and kill soldiers in trenches, where the slow-moving gas clouds could cause the most damage.


In 1976, Iraq bought a reactor from France for so-called 'peaceful scientific purposes.' However, the Israelis later destroyed it due to suspicions about its true intent. There was also Project Babylon, an unfinished Iraqi project, and the controversy deepens with the fact that Iraq purchased chemical weapons from the U.S., which were later destroyed in the desert when threatened with invasion. These chemical weapons were not WMDs.

My grandfather was a victim of Albert Einstein's Jewish colleague. The professor who created the mustard gas weapon to impress the antisemitic German leaders. Accompanied the soldiers to ensure they properly deployed the gas. Was disabled for life.

During the 1988-89 UN peace mission to disengage Iraqi troops from Iran, a peacekeeper driver-communicator from the Canadian Airborne Regiment was asked by his officer to smuggle in his kit bag, filmed footage of the many dead Kurds, gassed by Saddam, was taken by European journalists whom were desperate to get this film out to Western media. Obviously, this plan had success.
