WHY DO SCORPIONS GLOW?!

Did you know that scorpions actually glow under UV light? And scientists don’t actually know why they do this, but they do know how. The scorpion has a cuticle layer with beta carboline which glows in the dark, but why though? Scientists have some theories: The activation of this chemical may alert scorpions to the fact they are exposed to light, which helps them hide better and sneak up on prey easier. Maybe it helps them recognize each other or maybe the odd glow confuses its prey. It might even be a way to protect them from sunlight and UV radiation. But honestly we still don't really know why.
