Esther Williams was a liar who smeared his name with her lies when they broke up because she wanted to be with another man whom she had been unfaithful to Chandler with...so to preserve her wholesome public image she lied about Chandler saying that she had caught him dressing in women's clothes and being a closet gay. The other women that Chandler knew said she was a liar and the Chandler was NEVER gay only GREAT! She married a liar named Fernando Llamas who had been divorced from his previous wife Arlene Dahl due to adultery! She had slept with a large number of men, some of them married and never cared if it hurt others in the process! I knew Ty Hardin and Peter Brown of western TV fame in their later years. They were in the movie, Merrill Marauders with Jeff, a true war story. They categorically denied that he was gay or a cross dresser. They both said that Ester Williams defamed him and he could have sued her; but did not.
A great guy and a great actor, . I remember him from old radio broadcasts of Michael Shayne as well as his movies.

Ester Williams told TWO different stories about Chandler on TV while being interviewed the first she stated Chandler one commented on a gown she was wearing that he liked the colors and that made her feel uncomfortable, then she stated but she never saw dress as a woman! Then when her book came out she told the story that Chandler came out dressed as a woman one night, Williams said she wanted to write the most controversial about Hollywood, she also accused Johnny Weissmuller of trying to rape her! All of Johnny female costars always said he was a complete gentleman! Esther did not mind lying alot!
