Stephen Sommers always wanted Kate Beckinsale to play Anna, but he was worried that the role was too close to her role in Underworld. So, Stephen decided not to bother asking her to read the script. Eventually, Kate’s agent got him to send the script, and she signed on immediately. Also, the place where Van Helsing and Anna fight the three vampire brides is the same exact set where Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man were shot. It is called the Court of Miracles, and it’s on the tour for Universal Studios Hollywood.
