"I'll Be Seeing You" by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal is sung here by Jo Stafford.

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through.

In that small cafe;
The park across the way;
The children's carousel;
The chestnut trees;
The wishing well.

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day;
In every thing that's light and gay.
I'll always think of you that way.

I'll find you
In the morning sun
And when the night is new.
I'll be looking at the moon,
But I'll be seeing you.

Mom and dad married and dad left for the war. She said this was their song. He made it through the Normandy invasion and all through Europe to come home to her. Rest In Peace, mom and dad. Now I sing it for you and your 69 years of marriage. ♥️

How many soldiers & their wives, mothers, sisters or sweethearts heard this on countless railway platforms, their faces soaked with tears, their hearts in their throats, not knowing if their goodbye would be for all time? Even though this was written for a 1930s era play, no other song captures so well the feeling & heartache of WW II troops & those who loved them. And no one performed it’s beautifully as the exquisite Jo Stafford.

Today's youth don't know or care about the 500, 000 men who died in WWll; but I haven't. I was born in 1943 and knew many men who returned from years in combat. I think about the men who gave their lives. I have never forgotten them or failed to think about them frequently. Let us now praise famous men.

Last time I saw my mom she sung that song to me. She passed away two days later. She loved singing these old Big band songs. Beautiful era

This song represents a time when we all knew who and what we stood for as Americans. So much so we sacrificed the best of us to protect these values. May we find our way back as citizens of this great country. A country who values all its citizens. God bless those who gave their very lives so we could live ours. Rest In Peace Uncle Vito.

I lived with insane cruel people. As a tiny child, Jo's voice on the radio became my Pretend Mother! Later I learned that she WAS a great mother & left her huge career to raise her children herself. Kids KNOW!

Gorgeous!! In tears. Thank you for this incredible song & photo slide. It was an era when people truly loved our military. My Mom, now 83, remembers her Daddy coming back from WWII, (at 5 years old) and jumping off the dresser into his arms. God bless our Greatest Generation and the sacrifice they gave...for the love they had for our country & their families. They were truly our golden heroes! ❤️🇺🇸❤️

You just made a 67-year-old man sob like a child. Well done.

My mother wanted this song played at my father's funeral in 1987. It would have been his birthday yesterday.

No wonder those W W 2 young couples were so romantic - my parents were part of this generation.

It was a time of innocence, wonder, and great trepidation for many. This beautiful song encapsulates the time.
