Thanks for watching! Here’s the plugins I used in this video:

Soothe2: sweetwater.sjv.io/4P1R6n
ProMB: sweetwater.sjv.io/3eGXbM

We've got "Talking to a bass guitar like it was a real person" before talking to a bass player like they were a real person

I've also started using soothe2 to sidechain, it's amazing! I tend to use a sharper setting when sidechaining vocals or lead guitars to really only cut out the notes that are being sung/played 😊

The most impressive part of this is you are able to use fl studio. I found it so confusing for anything that isn’t edm

Soothe2 for sidechain makes a lot of sense, no idea why I haven't tried this... Thanks for the ideas Keyan!

That was a stellar tutorial mate. Aside from the side-chaining knowledge I just gained, I feel like the way you described your treatment of lead guitar (as if it’s the vocals) actually gives me a more tangible approach to incorporate in my own writing. Thank you for this!

I just begin to use sidechain on my mixes and then you do this video for the type of music I do. This is video is just what I needed! Thank you!

Regardless of how far I've come, I still forget things I've learned. Like, ridiculously easy things to forget. 1) I forget to sidechain literally anything. 2) the end.

TrackSpacer is a pretty dope alternative that kind of does the same thing as Soothe but for much lower CPU cost across a 32 band EQ with a much simpler UI. I'm more inclined to use it liberally everywhere that I might need it.

I do still use Soothe a ton though for all sorts of stuff, love them both. This might only be an issue in Logic, but sometimes it looks like there's lag/latency when side chaining with Soothe. Like, Soothe will duck the frequency but I'm constantly skeptical that it's a few milliseconds too late and overall just not ducking when the transient *actually* hits, if that makes sense. It's hard to tell though, but side chain latency is a concern with Logic across different web forums. Not sure about other DAWs, kinda curious if anyone else has noticed this or if I'm just being hilariously paranoid.

Thank you for this video. I just remixed my latest demo using this method and it's amazing. It makes so much sense. The trick with the leads and rhythm is gold. Love your stuff 👊🤘

I've been struggling with these issues a lot and have learned that this is crucial not only for punch and clarity, but this also increases perceptive loudness since the instruments frequencies do not overlap that much calculating into a louder sounding mix. This is evident especially when you compare heavy songs on youtube and the modern ones that are sidechained clearly sounds way louder.

I've been learning the importance of this and similar techniques recently; they really top of the mix.

This I really all overwhelming. My mixes make me not want to even post anything but I do anyway in hopes someone will understand and like my music. Maybe one day I can be less terrible at recording and mixing. If you guys cannot tell I am VERY frustrated 😕 good video keyan

great idea to listen before and after using this technique, now everything is clear

Some interesting approaches here, thanks for that! However for a really "fair" comparison between with an no sidechain the no sidechain mix levels would have to be adjusted accordingly. So less rhythm guitar, more kick, snare & solo and then compare once everything sounds like it has the same proximity as in the sidechained version.

This is awesome but at the end of the day I feel like low end informations really depends on the mix or genre of metal… now and days the kicks thump is comepltely cut out I’ve noticed with in a lot of mixes. Either way this is amazing thansk for the info

This information is invaluable. Thank you for making it make sense.

I love using Soothe2 but forgot I could sidechain with it, this is really helpful, thank you. I don't want to pay for the ProMB I've already spent too much on these damn plugins haha

Is there a benefit to this vs using trackspacer? As I imagine TS has a much smaller cpu cost.
