This video for medical students will help you understand this common disease of the female reproductive tract. The great majority of carcinomas of the cervix are squamous cell carcinomas. Medical students often find this a confusing topic because 1) the terminology is a bit convoluted; 2) there are multiple precursor lesions to consider; and 3) the pathogenesis is quite detailed, harkening back to the Hallmarks of Cancer videos! This material is based on Robbins & Kumar Basic Pathology, 11th edition.

Most of this video is focused on squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, but there is a wee bit on cervical adenocarcinoma at the end.
