What an impressive repository of trucking history. Got to visit just to see them in person. And those examples that went from near gone following 40+ yrs of slowly rotting away to showroom new condition, just gorgeous.
Love seeing those gasoline pumps that have the glass tube container at the top and the graduated scale to indicate how many gallons have been dispensed. I actually bought gas once in the 1970s via one of those tanks at a tiny station that match a couple examples that you've filmed lately. It was a Union 76 station alongside the 2 lane highway that led to the entrance to King's Canyon National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Sequoia and Yosemite parks. I was tent camping out of my 1970 VW bug at the time. The attendant dispensed the gas into the car via gravity feed and it was easy to see the gallons taken on the scale. Total $ was calculated by hand + brain and math skills. What was truly visual fun was turbulent sloshing about of fresh gasoline refilling the tube via the manual pump. There was a long handle off to the side that the attendant pushed and pulled which manually pumped gasoline from underground tank into that glass tube bowl. Once it was over the top of the scale he stopped pumping, and the excess gasoline slowly drained down until top fluid surface was level with the top of the physical scale/gauge and the draining down stopped: = full and all ready for the next customer. Just one of those memories one can only get by going out into the small corners of the world that progress left alone..
And come on now, when did you ever see a bulldog that didn't appear ridiculous - - - that''s part of their charm.
IOWA 80 Truck Stop looks like one could easily justify as a multiple day stay destination. It's 1286 miles from here and I've already locked it into the destination list on the GPS. I'll meander a bit so my miles will be greater.
Thanks so much for stopping and filming.

thanks, that was a cool tour of that museum. Like you it is mind boggling that they had electric way back then; can you imagine if they would have kept pushing those were the battery technology would be today ?? just a fun thought to entertain,
