Hey Coen, If you look up a copy of "The Amadeus Book of the Violin" by Walter Knolneder you will find that the torrification process for a musical instrument (in this case, violins) dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The objective was the same... the results of varying degrees of success.

Thanks for a very interesting presentation. I'm wondering whether there might be any long term consequences?? For example, will a torrified top still age? Might you lose the chance for a true vintage sound? I suppose it's too early to tell.
