CONTINENTAL ROAD ATTACK 3 vs PIRELLI SCORPION TRAIL 2 COMPARISON // KTM 1290 Super Adventure S

Показать описание
The Continental Road Attack 3 (CRA3) and the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 (PST2) are both award winning tires and the both came out at the very top of a comparision test in the MOTORRAD Magazin - each in their respective category - the CRA3 in the road category and the PST2 in the Adventure Bike category.

The stock Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tires that comes with the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is a 90/10 Onroard/Offroad tire which means the tire designers had some light offroad use in mind while designing the tire. The Continental Road Attack 3 is considered sport touring tire for 100% onroad use.

In this video I will give you my personal experience after having ridden at least 2 sets of motorcycle tires of each brand for an entire saison on my KTM 1290 Super Adventure S.

I would be interested in your experience - let me know in the comment section!

Motovibes, thanks for useful review. On my 2015 1290 SA, Pirellis are also last up to 6000 kms, front goes even earlier, I tried with Metz Tourance and got the same kms. I'd like to ask you if you notice any difference in top speed stability between Continental and Pirelli. (I have a problem with strong vibrations between 160-180 kmh).

Thank you so much for the vídeo and the information. So, let me make you a question: What do you think about put in the front the Continental Road Attack 3 and, in the rear, the Continental Trail Attack 3? Have you tested that?

Thank you very much for all videos. What brand of helmet are you using? I love it!!!!

I have a 2011 Transalp 700. I need a new set of tires. Should I go for Pirelli? I do most of asphalt and love to use all of the tire surface (go hard on curves). Thanks

Thanks for the info, it’s very useful to me. I bought a low mileage, 2018 SAS about 6 weeks ago, and it’s still on the original tyres. I’ve been wondering what to replace them with when the time comes...I was considering the Michelin R5T, but now the Conti’s are a possibility also.

Loving your vids 👍

Thanks,

Brilliant, thank you for sharing! (Having to change tires to often sucks, really. 10 trips a month of 400 km - and every 6 weeks to two month change tires - due to wear? This really sucks. Of course because of the work in the first place. In a track it's quite normal to change tires multiple times a day, but that's a different business.)

Hi, great videos all round. I’m looking at changing my tyres due to front Pirelli ST2 being shot after 3500 km from new, have you any experience with any other tyre on the SAS? I fancy the Angel GT2 or a set of Metzeler Roadtech 01, thank you in advance.

I have not been overly impressed by the Perelli tires on my SAS. Thanks for the heads up I will try the Continental tires next time around

Hey bro, very good comparison, fust for curiosity i checked both prices and in my country (Mexico) the CRA3 is much cheaper than Pirelli (around 160 Euro), I will try the CRA3 in my next change xD

Great comparison... And looks like I will be getting these tires for my good old Tiger 955i ... Off with the aggressive Mitas E07 Dakar ...

@Motovibes, I also have a SADV S. Need new tires. Want the most grip. Undecided between the Continental Road Attack 3 and the Michelin Road 5 Trail. What’s your suggestion? Keep up the good work. Also ordered the SW Motech axle sliders from FC Moto after watching your video, really like them.

I have the original Scorpion Trail on my Moto Guzzi Stelvio with about 1000 miles on tires. They look like they will wear well. I mention since I have used Pirelli Angel tires on my Triumph Trophy that are again lasting over 12000 miles (that''s over 19000 kilometer).

I have a set on my GS. I have struggled with high speed stability from day one until the dealer recommended I drop the pressure slightly. The front has also developed quite a few small splits at the same points around the full circumference which is worrying. They are supper grippy and confidence inspiring in the bends but I will rather go for Road Tec01's or PR5's next.

What tire pressure do you use on agressive riding??
Thank you 😀

My Road King’s front tyre always lasted much longer than the rear when I used the Harley preferred Dunlop tires but when I went to the Avon tires, it was a closer run thing. So I was quite surprised when I went to the BMW GSA with Bridgestone A41 tires and the front is looking average at 7000 kliks but the rear looks good. 🤷‍♂️
I do push on a bit but not madly.
