I Wish I Wuz In Peoria on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

The Smothers Brothers, Tom and Dick, are one of the most iconic comedy duos in the history of television. Tom and Dick began performing as a duo in the late 1950s, playing in coffeehouses and clubs in San Francisco. Their act consisted of music, comedy, and witty banter, which quickly gained them a following.

The Smothers Brothers became a household name in the late 1960s with their variety show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. The show was groundbreaking in its approach to comedy, pushing the boundaries with political satire and social commentary. The show also featured up-and-coming musical acts, including The Doors and The Who, and introduced the world to comedians like Steve Martin and George Carlin.

The Smothers Brothers' irreverent style has made them a beloved and enduring force in American comedy.

When I get sick of reading/watching the news these Smother’s Bros videos renew my joy in life.

If I could live my life over again, I'd still be watching the Smothers Brothers.

Never see the likes again. How lucky were we to be alive and tuned-in to the times through the last 60 years? All we saw growing up as guys like these stood up for a different way of sharing the world. I think about the wonders that I've lived through and how changed the world at large is since jug-bands switched to psychedelia, when Dylan went electric, how "I want to Hold Your Hand" became "Come Together". I've even seen a clip where Tommy Smothers played an electric. Thank you Dickie, and even if "Mom always liked you best", Tommy and you are loved by millions of who still remember The Smothers. Brothers.

We saw them at Chautauqua Institution in 1962 and 1992. Wonderful, wonderful duo. Loved them!

Dickie was the straight man. Tommy was the comedy. And what wonderful great comedy it was. Tommy we won’t see you no more now in this world but we’ll see you in next. And don’t be late.

I'm so glad I found this channel. I was so young then, so it's really cool to be able to appreciate the humor much more now. Two geniuses of comedy.😹

I remember the show being cut off by the network. Mom's first thought was just that something was wrong ... Dad's (he didn't say then but told me years later) wondered if the nukes had started flying. That was the times.

Their schtick hardly changed over the decades. It didn't need to; it ALWAYS works!

I am well aware Steve Martin was a writer for the Smothers Brothers, but does anyone know if he was the banjo player backing them up on their musical segments when needed?

Here they're paying homage to Abbott and Costello with Dickie as Lou or was it Bud?
