Before reading 'The Calling':
Ouch...

After reading 'The Calling':
*uncontrollable weeping*

I think the term 'No parent should bury their child', seem profound in this small conversation. She will never get the chance to talk to her son that doesn't know what she is to him and the fact that she's alone in her grief is heart wrenching. "Some things are harder to bare than others." Oh, Fiona.

After this scene, she leaves Skyhold and you never see her again. Sad :(

Important things to know about Alistair's parentage:
- Duncan, Maric and Fiona were the only ones who knew
- Maric wanted Fiona to stay with him, but she didn't want to be a mistress
- Maric wanted Alistair, but Fiona didn't want him to have the burden of the crown and Maric agreed that it would burden him to be competing with Cailan
- Fiona wanted to lie about his parentage because she didn't want him to face discrimination for having a mother who was an elf and a mage
- Alistair is not half elf; that was confirmed not to exist. He is elf-blooded.
- Maric asked Duncan to occasionally check in on Alistair so that he could be updated on him
- A woman in Redcliffe Castle got pregnant and had a child, who died. It was the perfect opportunity, so they pretended she was Alistair's mother and paid Goldanna off to convince her this was the case in the event that Alistair ever went looking for answers
- Fiona never planned on telling Alistair the truth in Inquisition, suggesting that she believed it was too late

She says obviously regretting the difficult decision she made to never now her son, even more so knowing that now she never can. Thank you for uploading this. I look forward to seeing Leliana and Morrigan's reactions... as much as one can look forward to that sort of thing.

WHY COULDN'T SOMEONE TELL ALISTAIR THAT FIONA IS HIS MOM?!?!

seriously when I had to choose between Alistair or Hawke I was staring at the the computer for 10 minutes with tears in my eyes unable to decide

She disappears from Skyhold after this. As a mage, I BET she is trying to find someway to save her son

You would think Fiona would be important enough to be present in the War Room, at least if you give the mages freedom rather than bondage.  Instead she becomes this meaningless character standing around on the second floor of your keep.  Strange.

As sad as this is, Fiona has no one but herself to blame. She should have never made Maric keep that promise. She failed. Maric failed. Eamon failed. They all failed. No parent should ever outlast their child.

Oh yes, right before you leave the fade you call out to Aliboy, "Alistair, before we part forever, I just wanted you to know that Fiona is your mother. I'm claiming the amulet-locket though, among your other belongings."

I miss the old DA Origins days where everyone could survive if you tried hard enough.

All things considered she took that pretty well.

Oh lord, that is absolutely heartbreaking. Poor Fiona just can't win. :( I'm glad in all my playthroughs Alistair is either the King of Ferelden or the survivor of the Fade...

Would personally always sacrifice a DA2 companion instead of a DA: Origins companion.

Broke my little warden's heart when Alistair became king in Origins. Romance shattered. But now at least I can be glad that I got to throw Stroud at the nightmare monster instead of having to choose between Al and Hawke. :)

If you know what happened in “Dragon Age: The Calling” those last two sentences have a total different meaning.

Damn. Didn't know he was her kid. May have been a complete B**** when she asked about him after redcliff...Totally thought she had something up her sleeve instead of just wanting to know how her kid was.

Oh I couldn't even go that route. I felt terrible going with the Templars and finding out you have to kill her during the attack on Haven. It broke my heart. I couldn't ever let Alistair die... not.. ever...

Yea that sounds ominous. For me have Regret would mean a huge consequence in the next game. We will see.
