Spot on. I wish more pools had circle swimming as the norm. The enforcement of splitting the lane only leads to "personallanism" and even ableism. Creates unrealistic expectations.

Very thorough. Can use this for my lap swim class at the college.

Thank you for this lol there's an old woman who flails around (bless her) in the fast lane and it seems like im always catching up to her and basically treading water behind her for 10 to 15 meters. Yesterday i passed her because i'd seen other people pass before but i did feel bad abt it, so it's good to know there are unspoken rules. I would wait for her to finish the lap if it werent for 7+ people sharing a lane who would all just go before me :( not sure what to do

UGH. God. Reminds me during my Thursday night swims back when I started out. There were these two middle-aged dudes with gross back hair that would always just float/walk while talking to each other... and I swear they'd purposefully slow down at times, leaving me no choice but to tailgate. People like that makes me wish there was an "extra slow" lane.

Flip turn in a circle swimming fashion is sort of an art LoL

Let's say you need to do some drills as part of your workout, they often tend to be slow, like sculling drills. Would you then choose to switch lanes accordingly?

Nope. Countries that drive on the left use clockwise in circle swimming.
