I started Fireborne last week - and I'm almost halfway through Furysong. This trilogy is INCREDIBLE! I'm so glad you recommended it several times because I finally picked it up. It's a phenomenal political fantasy and the characters have so much depth. It's a new favorite trilogy and I can't wait to see what the author comes out with next!! (I still need to read the Way of Kings too...)

I love your attitude about diversity, human complexities, and the desire for broad representation in the stories we read. Authors who can incorporate diversity and complexity end up providing stories that make us think more, care more, and ultimately get more out of the story. My all time favorite stories are those that required more effort on my part because of the complexities of the characters, the environment, the plot, or whatever. And most of those stories seem to also tweak my heart in various ways and leave me emotionally unsettled :)

I finally read Fireborne last month and finished it this month. That was the quickest I'd binge a series in a long time. Thanks for constantly recommending it! It's well worth the read! Flamefall is my favorite too

I just finished the Poison Song the other day, on your recommendation, and whilst I did like the first book the most, the worldbuilding and antagonists were so unique and the characters were extremely likeable and well-written.

The Bone Shared war and love cover is so beautiful and writing is beautiful done and unique and I couldn’t put it down and I fall in the love with the characters

The Witch's Heart is not a book I would have chosen to read based on the publisher's synopsis but Genevieve Gornichec is the friend of a friend who recommended the book to me. I'm so glad you presented it in this video.

I'm working through some BOTM picks on my shelves that I hadn't gotten to, and I'm just about to pick up Kaikeyi!
As for some recent fantasy reads, I loved The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik and Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater (which were both great series finales imo), and I've also enjoyed Nettle & Bone and A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking!

Most of these series are on my tbr, I've read Kaikeyi last month and plan to continue reading The Drowning Empire series now that it's complete.
And I loved the ending of this video, and how you were able to bring the lgbt and mental health topics in such a natural way, it just made me want to read the other books even more!

I started listening to The Way of Kings last week and I am already past half point :D It's SO GOOD and I'm so glad the size of these did not deter me 😂 I've also realized listening to audiobook is probably not the best idea for these tomes because I do not remember much haha but I will for sure buy physical copies later and go through these books again.
Definitely want to read The Winnowing Flame trilogy as well as The Aurelian Cycle Series soon.
