Beach Fishing w/ BIG BAIT! What will we catch? Classic Beach Fishing Methods

This week, we’re breaking out some classic beach fishing methods to target some massive catfish. We are using cut bait as well as some of our Shrimpy Bits to catch some nice, fat fish. In this episode, I want to pay homage to the invention of the spinning reel. These spinning reels are classic and ones that I have restored myself back into working condition. These are really unique because one has a half bail while the other has no bail at all. Let’s see how they hold up to the giant catfish out here!
We’re at the Chesapeake Bay this week, trying to get some fresh air during the quarantine. Fixing up vintage reels is a newfound hobby of mine as it is inexpensive to start, is a great way to prepare for fishing season, and is very rewarding (because you can use what you fix up). Perfect hobby to cure that quarantine boredom.

**When you are going fishing during this pandemic, please make sure you follow state laws and social distancing guidelines. This does not mean “We can meet up to go fishing as long as we stay 6 feet away from each other.” Social distancing means that you should not be in the same vicinity as people who do not live in your household unless absolutely necessary (like when buying groceries). Limit your contact with others as much as possible. Go to remote fishing spots where there are no other people fishing. If you want to go fishing with a friend, we recommend that you each go to your own fishing spots and video call each other. Let’s all help keep each other safe during this uncertain time**

Skipper, for the bail-less reels, after you cast if you grab the line again with your finger (like you're about to cast) and begin to reel, it will pick up the line and begin to spool. Bail-less reels are great and that thing will literally last forever. Great videos, keep it up.

I love that you can get tongue twisted and still keep it in the video. I like when things are real and un-scripted. It just makes it feel more authentic. And what's more authentic then having a confused look on your face when realizing the rig was bitten off/bad line haha. It was a bit of bad luck, but in all seriousness...who hasn't been in that situation before? And I love the look of those vintage reels even if some aren't as easy to use as others. The bail-less one just looks a bit annoying after a while, but it's still fun to use them and respect how far technology has come. Plus the craftsmanship was really good back then since things were made to last. Now-a-days a budget spinning reel can easily become bail-less...by shotty craftsmanship. Just hopefully not while fighting a fish.

I thought I was the only one still fishing vintage spinning reels, most of mine were my grandfather's and great grandfather's, but I keep their memories alive and feel them with me when I use their gear.😊

Nice to see that you finally pump the rod when you fight the fish instead of reeling against the drag, keep up the good work!

I really liked your fishing adventure today, since you used equipment that has to have tremendous fishing stories, true rare reels, but it was noted that the technology of before has nothing to envy to the current one, really I always keep an eye on your videos since I always learn something new with you, your always friend Mr Bluguill Fishing

Sandy point park and blue cats . Cut menheden is tops. I use my 1970s Mitchell Garcia reels and rods. But I like my conventional reels too . So retro !

Hey man love the videos. My aunt has a house in the outer banks on the sound and me and my wife was catching catfish and drums off the dock. And of course perch. We live in ny and are used to stripers and blues so it's a pleasant change to catch new things. Keep up the good work. It's appreciated.

This reel design was bulletproof used by Luxor, Crack and now has evolved into the Van Staal reels. Can't beat them. 👍👊!
