Each month The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation hosts a Meet the Scientist Webinar featuring a researcher discussing the latest findings related to mental illness. In September, 2022, the Foundation featured Dr. Brian P. Brennan of McLean Hospital and Harvard University.

Description: Individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) experience a wide array of different types of obsessions and compulsions. However, current OCD treatments employ a “one size fits all” approach regardless of symptom type. In this talk, Dr. Brennan will discuss symptom-specific brain abnormalities in OCD and recent work to develop a novel method of transcranial magnetic stimulation to reduce contamination/washing symptoms – one of the most common types of OCD.

I've gone through many OCD themes throughout my life; religious OCD, sexuality orientiation ocd, constant checking, tapping objects, fear of certain numbers, places, contamination, persons ocd (you try to avoid certain type of persons), internet reassurance, moral, and probably some others I don't remember. I really wish one day they just invent one pill you have to take to cure 100% this annoying brain malfunction, won't matter if you have to take it everyday for the rest of your life.
