As someone from Louisville, please be careful if you decide to explore random neighborhoods, not all are friendly, especially the neighborhoods surrounding Churchill Downs.

I've lived in Louisville almost all of my life and almost 90% of resident's that I know have never visited Churchill Downs on Derby Day.. the Kentucky Derby is actually a two-week festival of many activities that are way cheaper if not free... Derby is the finale and it cost most..

I was born and raised in Louisville. I love my hometown. If you're looking for short weekend getaways, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Chicago are short drives.

Born and raised in Louisville! We moved out to Brandenburg but we go back to Louisville constantly! I truly do love the city and everything about it!

Live in Louisville.
Do: Visit the riverfront. Great parks, spraygrounds, walk across the river on an old train bridge. Free fun!

Don’t: Be knowledgeable about where you are. Western Louisville is not a good place to go if you’re a tourist, Louisville has a bad crime problem that seems to be getting worse each year. Downtown is pretty safe, just be careful going west. I’ve spent a good amount of time in those neighborhoods, not a place for a tourist to be.

We have fresh seafood because UPS flight hub is in Louisville. Not only do they fly in freshly caught fish, I've heard that there are large live-wells used for transporting fresh farmed fish. It's pretty wild that a landlocked city could be serving you "the catch of the day" seafood.

Louisville native here, great video but also worth mentioning is the the great steamboat race, balloon race and glow during derby. Street rod nationals in August, The Saint James art fair, the bourbon festival, the zombie walk and our impressive park system

What I enjoy most about your vids is how much work you do just for a few seconds of footage... Thanks for these suggestions and tips.

As someone who grew up here I think you got it right! I still visit every couple of years!

I will add if you come here in Sept/Oct. we have the Louder than Life festival for rock/metal music. As far as corrections...you can call it The Derby (most of us do....even if we don't go), I've never met anyone who actually likes a mint julep and I've lived here 40+ years, and we are southern (if you want midwest cross the river....it's there for a reason). Also, as someone else in the comments already mentioned, we care more about college basketball than we do about horses. The UK/UofL dream game is probably marked on more calendars than Christmas (Dec. 22nd this year if you're curious).

I’ve lived here all my life and haven’t done some of these (date night ideas) 😀. Love the video just one correction. It’s not the riverfront. It’s called the “Waterfront”! 👍🏼

Really strange seeing you in my town! I've been following you for years. You did a great, comprehensive job describing our city. Whoever showed you around did a great job of giving you the full experience. You're great, man! Thank you!

This was really accurate and gets the stamp of approval from me! The "mid-wester gem with southern flair" couldn't be more accurate. Loved that you mentioned Bardstown Road/the Highlands and all of our parks. And the FOOD! We have some of the best food in the country, and thanks to having the biggest UPS airport in the country we get incredibly fresh seafood! You really did your research!!

A couple free things I'd add are the Big 4 pedestrian bridge is great in good weather and if the river is low enough there's a huge fossil bed at Falls of the Ohio. Also a great bird watching location.

I lived in Louisville when I just moved to the US and I consider it my American hometown. I’m glad you had fun there. I LOVE & MISS my beloved Louisville!!!

If you are a soccer fan, don't miss out on a Louisville City FC or Racing Louisville match! Louisville is quickly becoming an American soccer city! LouCity is one of the most successful soccer teams in the US. Founded in 2015, they have made the Eastern Conference finals of the USL (US Second division) every year of their existence, and have made the Cup Finals three times with two Finals wins! City and Racing play at one of the nations newest soccer stadiums: Lynn Family Stadium in the Butchertown neighborhood just east of Downtown.

The Mega Cavern zipline is a lot of fun. Be sure to check out the witches' tree, too.
