"This is a suburban with many hard miles used as a work truck" - shows probably the cleanest 97 suburban to exist.

I had a friend who had the SS back in the day and the one thing he said about it that made me laugh and I always remembered was when he said- that thing could pass anything on the road except a gas station.

God Damn that 454 is nice. I want One! Plus a second gen F150 Lightning... Plus a GMC Syclone. Probably need to rob a bank too... 😊

Test drove a SS at Woodall Chevrolet in Danville, VA, thought it was very lazy for a BB engine, got a SB Sport in black with similar red trim, was as strong and better economy, still have the Sport today

Don't forget to wear safety glasses on when under a vehicle. Don't want dirt, metal or a piece of rust getting in your eyes.

Hands down one of the most beautiful trucks (both) ever created.!! But that 454, pay top dollar for that.

Another good choice for wheels are 90s Corvette directional 17'' wheels. add to them ZR1 rectangular tail lights in the rollpan and weld up the vertical lights

Great video! Reminds me of my super clean black 89 Silverado. Edlebrock Jet Hot ceramic tri-y headers, 2"/2" drop, American Racing Torq Thrust I I, stainless cat-back. Another one that I should have kept.

The Bilstein shocks although super old were probably still better than the drop shocks.

Got to love when he says the short block was in decent shape
Yet when they popped off the heads a gallon of water pours out and 3 cylinders are full of water

My high school buddy's dad gave him a 1990 454 ss he bought new from the dealership. My buddy kept a year and during senior year he traded it in at a shady car lot for a 99 Dodge Durango. I loved that truck and it wasn't even mine.

*I can't believe you're replacing a 350 with only 165, 000 miles on it! that truck aint hurt. they aren't even ready for major service until they get up around the 200, 000 mile mark. and that intake on the suburban motor would be clean enough to eat off of if they only used Seafoam to keep the intake running clean. 1 full can in the gas with every 3rd tank and twice a year running a can through the power brake booster vacuum line and letting it blow out all of the carbon and varnish and you wouldn't even need to wipe off the internals of that motor. that's what i use along with Mobil 1 engine oil and synthetic transmission fluid and i've never had a problem out of Any of my vehicles all 3 of my Escalades run like a top and i even use Mobil 1 for turbo diesels in my 06 dodge mega cab 2500 as well as seafoam in it for fuel system treatment and keeping the injectors and intake clean on it as well and so far they all still look brandnew inside when i run the bore scope through them* Could you guys PLEASE do an episode on the importance of using the correct coolant in vehicles also? i am tired of arguing with people about why it's important to use Dexcool in your GM motor when you change everything out for the seasons. everyone swears that it doesn't matter coolant is coolant and it's ABSOLUTELY NOT! i've experienced the hazzards of using the wrong stuff first hand as the green stuff in my 99 tahoe actually ate the intake gasket seals in a little over 3 months causing an expensive and time sucking replacement of the intake gaskets. i've had that truck for 14 years now running Dexcool and never had another issue with it. so proper coolant DOES make a difference!
