For me, Kobe's 81 pts game wasn't his best game of his career..
That game when he outscored the entire Dallas Mavericks team in 3 Qtrs "Kobe 62 Dallas 61" for me that was his best game ever !!!
Keep in mind that that Dallas Mavericks team has made it to the Finals that year !!

David Robinson's 70 point game is underrated. That won him the scoring title at the last minute.

This is what happened with shaq in the game against the clippers.

He was purposely fouling and playing bad so he could be subbed out and have some rest for his upcoming party. But then he saw Kareem Abdul Jabar on the sideline telling the clippers bench how to guard shaq. Shaqs idol was Kareem and so he didn't want to play poorly infront of him. So then he turned in the jets and did his thing.

I sorta feel like Jordan’s 63 points against the ‘86 Celtics, 61 points in ‘87 against the Hawks, 59 points against the Pistons in ‘88, 69 points against the Cavs in ‘90, 64 points against the Magic in ‘93, and 55 points in the ‘93 Finals against the Suns should all get honorable mentions.
