If you’re playing your first time through don’t kill him. If you don’t kill him you’ll activate parts of lore you wish you would’ve gotten to see and do later in the game.

Many people don't know this, but if you don't have the master key and don't wanna key the key from the undead parish, you can just kill the gargoyles and he'll spawn in firelink. He just won't give you a medal

Not to mention you save the life of your firekeeper

Lautrec have 2 uses before you wanna undo him

1 = he can be summoned for the Bell Gargoyles Fight (along with Solaire)

2 = he can be summoned again for the Gaping Dragon Fight (along with Solaire)

After that, you can just kill him. Or wait til Anor Londo so you can retrieve Anastasia's soul and keep her tongue intact.

Yeah I tried kicking him and for whatever reason the kick button wasn't reacting so now I can't go to firelink shrine

I’m playing my first playthrough of ds1 and I contemplated doing this. I figured since I want to experience the game fully for the first time, I let him live so I can deal with the consequences as if I knew nothing about the game. Kind of regretting it rn since I haven’t even been quaalong but it really makes the world feel more bleak it’s crazy

You should try out the gold tracer in one hand and the silver in the off hand for the double curve sword experience.

I'd rather keep him around so you can get his armor set which is basically an upgrade to the elite knight set for pretty much the same weight

Tbh, I don't like killing NPCs. Not even Lautrec. I prefer fighting him and his puny little gank squad to take revenge in the name of Anastacia.

I also prefer to have a free Ring slot during the first half of the game. The iron ring is one of the best tools early on. The other slot is Havels.

You can also open the door with master key, or by killing the gargoyles he'll appear in firelink on his own.

Many think Lautrec is a bad guy, but he's actually just trying to break the endless cycle of undead that are sent to rekindle the first flame.
He's actually the good guy who tries to let the first flame extinguish, but ofc it's bad for the player when the fire keeper in firelink shrine dies..

note, you miss out on 2 armor sets if you kill the npc early.

To be honest, I decided to go with hard route, complete his quest to get the full revenge and take his clothes too because it's wasted on guy like him 😎

As a souls vet, there are way better rings to get that early on. Example, start with master key->blighttown skip->hollow tree-> jump into center then grab ring-> hwbone back up to bonfire-> run to andre(using same location) *DO NOT GRAB ITEM NEAR DRAGON YET* (far side has soul you can grab without agro) -> run past drakes and make it to the elevator-> run to other side and grab stam shield. Now you have infinite stam, also stacks with mask of the Child and the stam weeds. Hope that helps anyone in the comments😊
