Mr. Giant, the lyrics are heartbreaking even though the tempo and rhythm of the song are lively as most songs from the Maramures/Tara Oasului region tend to be.
The song starts out with the singer calling for his friends/family, yet they are gone, gone to another country to work as the "auntie" states to him.
"Zbiara Tara Oasului" translates in English as follows: the country/region of Oas is screaming.
Yes, screaming for its' inhabitants to come back, reclaim the area for its' beauty, the way it was in days of past, the land is upset for everyone (including him!) leaving for other countries where perhaps people believe that they may find better living conditions and work.
He goes on to sing about how wherever Osenii-the people from the region have migrated to, have brought the cetera (the fiddle) to quench their longing for the place called home, to not forget their roots. On he sings asking God to let there be sunshine, not rain for he is weary of bad/untrustworthy people, so everyone would return, may the Lord let the mountains pour forth gold so as to not be a servant to others-strangers in other lands.

He sings that he has to stay abroad a bit longer as to make enough money to to lend a helping hand to his children to build a house.
Then, he sings on that there is no place like Tara Oasului and he carries it with him in his thoughts and heart, wherever he may be.
A rather eerily true song about the struggle of people to carry on their identity and traditions out of necessity for lack of a better term.
I am Romanian and I live in the USA, yet as the story goes, truly, there is no place like home.
My soul longs for this, as most Romanians long for that bit of heaven in which they were born, to somehow make their way home, yet the reality and circumstances prevent it.
Thank you for this, as it hits close to home...

The Oaș Land is an area in the north of the country that is said to have not been conquered even by the Roman Empire. They are special, original, something similar to Native Americans.

This land, Maramures, had never been conquered by Romans. There was Dacia Libera ( Free Dacia). And they still keep their customs. Good heritage. Thank you mr. Giant for that.

Tara Oașului music has the specific of having one octave higher music than usual. That why the style is called "screaming " . This song is quite moderate and not as "screamy" as other songs, but contain the classical ritm of that region 123....45...123...45.
The style of Oașului is more archaic than nearby Maramureș region. For Maramureș style the song.." La moara la Niculai" is a clasisc

This is a sad song about returning home from foreign countries where they have gone to work, finding the house empty, everyone is gone, and the country of Oas is sad because all the village children have left... (similar to the dirges of cotton pickers in America!!! --- not similar, the same !)

The Romanian people are historically and date back thousands of years. They are of Dacian origin and it is very possible that they have a genetic lineage to the Serbs. The evidence is in the tools and also the weapon. fist of all the song is about young people leving to west for work ... second ....Oaș is like Vatican iin Italy, but in Romania, they have their on rule is like scotland is different from englad, or porugase from spain ...yes we are the same, but they have their own fantasy island ... ițm romanian and sometimes i do not even understand them :D speack so funny are hard workers, mostly carpenters and they can handle a hard dink drinks from that zone are +60% ... :D ...but mostly hard workers ... i i have seen them building a house in 3 days ... and i meen top to bottom ...how the hell you do that?
