Def Leppard is known for spending years to record their albums. So when it came to recording guitars for their masterful "Hysteria" record in 1987, the guitar tracks were no different. Phil Collen and Steve Clarke's approach to a more 'MELODIC' guitar sound was unique for rock in the 80's, but was a main factor is "Hysteria" becoming one of the best selling rock albums of all time.

I can't help but think Steve Clark was the magic of Def Leppard, because after he passed, the band never sounded the same.

Just one of those bands that have a knack for writing great albums. No filler needed when you have hooks for days.

Is it not one of the best albums ever released? I was only 11 when I heared the album in Australia in '88, and is one of the best albums I have ever heared!

I was 17 when this came out. Not one of my favorite albums from the eighties but I've always been fascinated by the guitar sound and arrangement.
The guitar solo in Armageddon It, is very cool.

Hysteria is one of the very few music albums where every song is a masterpiece. What a creation!!

I'm 59, I lived through that era, and even before, LIVE! When Hysteria came out, radio stations couldn't get enough. I've been their fan since Pyromania, so when I was 17. 42 years of love I have for them. 🥰 Great band, and I would argue one of the greatest, for their music but also for their incredible history, and what good friends they are. I'm sure very few bands could have survived what they have.

This tour was the only time I saw DL.
And when I heard of the passing of Steve Clark, my heart broke. He was my favorite.
I'm so thankful to have been able to see the Classic DL lineup back then.

Ahhhh...those were the days of great rock. Gone forever now. America has changed beyond recognition. Glad I was there. I'm 63 now. Much sadness living today. Sick culture. Stay safe, stay healthy everyone.

Hysteria is one of very few songs in history that truly encapsulates a feeling of nostalgia.
