I've got compressor plugins coming out of my ears, but I still bought the BB N54. I really like it's sound and what I can get out of it. Between this, the Unfairchild & Kazrog MHB Green it's been an interesting few months for compressor plugins with some character.

I've been using the Lindell 254e and their 80 chan for a while now and really like it. To my ears the lindell adds some weight to the drums but I might prefer the kit on acoustic guitar. UAD seems to have a more silky top end which worked well on the vocal.

I wanted to like the Lindell but it sounds like it could enter phasey territory easily. I also wanted to like the Kit Blackbird plugin because they have GREAT BB emulations, but besides the Portico, the UAD one sounded the best to me. Great comparison vid.

The differences are marginal, and with some tweaking of the parameters, the difference will become negligible.
The Lindell Audio 254E is now on sale for €20!
Seems like a no-brainer to go for the cheapest option with such small differences.

Apart from the Portico, I clearly prefer the UAD version. It seems the only one preserving high mids and transients in a convincing way throughout the examples.

Maybe you can do a video on the Voosteq model N channel. It has two 2254's and also various never preamp and eq models all in one and it sounds very analog. Almost bought the kit but the Voosteq is only $17...

I find the Kit sounds quite nice. Probably the closest thing to my pair of 2254s. However, the Lindell does as well, and naturally UAD. The gainstaging in the kit is annoying though, as the internal calibration for threshold is VERY low, often requiring -10db or more reduction on input to have some headroom

I’m curious how the 2254 compressor (codenamed 8254 for legal reasons) included in the Gold 5 plugin from Acustica Audio compares to these. Gold 5 is like an enigma - Highly regarded by those that have experience with it, but it’s nearly impossible to find any videos or discourse about it on YouTube.

The Portico destroyed the others but can someone tell me what company makes that plugin? I Googled it and nothing is coming up. That plugin is the most amazing plugin I’ve heard by far.

I refuse to buy Lindell plugins anymore. Tobias Lindell is a huge jackass, you should see his Gearspace comments. I brought up bugs in MU-66 and issues with Logic (unrelated to his plugin) and he went absolutely bezerk on me, and the rest of the users in the thread were shocked. I had heard about his trolling and aggression before, but I was surprised to see it displayed, and toward me, as badly as it was. It was the most unprofessional response I could imagine, not even a single suggestion to contact support to report bugs, just full on anger, and bugs that have been reported in Lindell 50 were never fixed.
