What a wonderful video. Ive loved the Guzzi Daytona ever since I first saw one at a bike show in the 1990s. Glad you’ve found this beauty and got it running. I’ve got 3 carbed bikes (ZX7, CBR and VFR) and I find the only way to keep them going is to keep riding them to stop the carbs blocking up. Enjoy riding the Guzzi!

I bought one of these new back in '95, from a dealer in OK, had it shipped to CA. Mine was red, full Staintune exhaust, K&N pods, chromoly muffer hangers, billet head guards, Brembo full-floaters, Dymag 17"" wheels, and Agostini straight-cut timing gears. Mine was frame #2, that's one I should've kept! I've owned seven Guzzis over the last 40 years, more than any other brand, and currently have a '23 V7 850 Special Edition and a '24 V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale, so I've come full circle!

Thanks for sharing this fun video. I have always liked Moto Guzzi bikes since I saw my first Mk 1 lemans many years ago 😊

Working with Chris is a pleasure. No fuss, just getting it done. The great attitude in which Chris maintained throughout the process is something others should strive for. Very glad to have got this one back one the road and a complete detail to follow. Cheers, 😉 William.

Chris, beautiful bike. I wish I had a William near me. I have a vintage 2000 Ducati Monster M900ie that I could use his expertise. Enjoy the ride😊

I have the 96 Carb Sport, too. Mine has gutted Lafranconi cans and even Harley dudes give the sound a nod when I’m out and about. I replaced the useless rectangular light with twin round headlights to give it the endurance racer look. Added rectangular digital clock and ammeter either side of dash and replaced original worn discs with wave rotors. Strong motor. Goes really well, but gearbox is the weak point, not aided by drivetrain lash due to this being the one year MG experimented with omitting the cush drive from the rear hub. Replace the dell’orto crap wth Mikuni flat slides for more HP straight out of the box, and a much lighter throttle.

Part way through and laughing already has he explained his tools, your facial expressions .
I always loved the look of these bikes but it was a stretch to bars for me 😂

1100 Sport made only one year...1995. the '96 & '97 were fuel injected with inverted forks. They were designated Sport 1100i. I bought a '95 (red) new!

You guys know how to chill. Working on carbs and listening to great music and obviously talking and joking around. What better way to hang.

Bloody gorgeous bike that is. Always wanted one but got a V11 sport instead as its more comfy.

I owned a ‘95 1100 Sport from the late 90’s to about ‘08. Fwiw, they run better with the stock air box. Also, the stock mufflers work better than you might think. Also see the PO ditched the electric petcocks. Ft forks are frustrating to get ft/rr balance with. Only guzzi I still own is a ‘90 lemans V. Finally, no offense, but you’ll prob wanting to start some yoga classes. You’ll see what I mean soon enough. 3rd gear on a tight, winding road on that bike can be a spiritual experience. Have fun.

Congrats on the purchase on the bike? I dig your style in being a all-around motorcyclist lover than sticking with just one. manufacture. Sorry Harley guys;)

See some comments about cold stsrting.and the choke. Had a sport for 15 years plus . To start from cold twist the throttle 3 times press the starter button and away she goes first time every time 😊

Bored at work, so I looked up Moto Guzzi Restorations, which got me here.

I've one of those fuel injected (a 1997) like you mentioned.

Funny thing is, I had a 1991 Ducati 907i.e. too. I hard carbon fiber Termignonis that got louder and louder as they got closer to needing a rebuild. I bought my bike used in 2007, and it had cf Mistrals on it, which I replaced with one of the last full Staintune exhaust systems that they built before the company sale.

Carbed Sports, and fuelie Sports both have their pluses and minuses.

I hope the purchase has worked out for you? :)

I've owned a 96 Carb Sport for 23 years. IMHO it is the Magnum Opus of the Guzzi Carb'd V-twin. The last of Guzzi's simple rhorty sportsters, this bike should've had the LeMans label. Used mine for fast rides in the Dolomites/Alps. Not a commuter - it doesn't really 'settle in' until 4K rpm/90mph in 5th. But - the torque makes it an awesome pass-bagger.
