Tour de France 2021 Stage 15 Highlights | Climbers Do Battle In The Pyrenees
Показать описание
As the tour heads into the Pyrenees proper, a breakaway including some big names like van Aert, Alaphilippe and Valverde fought to try to take the stage ahead of the chasing GC group. Woods, Poels and Quintana once again traded blows in the king of the mountains competition.
With four giant Pyrenean climbs, 4,500m of total elevation gain and a visit to 2,408m altitude, stage 15 is one of the toughest stages of the race and a day that many riders will be dreading from the moment they leave Brest this Saturday. Climbing may start in earnest, but it’s not until the riders pass through the intermediate sprint in Olette that they’ll hit the foot of the first categorised climb - the Montée de Mont-Louis (8.4km at 5.7%). This climb then gives way to the tamer Col de Puymorens (5.8km at 4.7%) before the highest climb of this year’s Tour - the Port d’Envalira (10.7km at 5.9%) - rears its ugly head.
