thanks for this. we got this for my younger daughter and it's been slow for her Minecraft. now she wants Red Lantern and I think even with the new memory it won't work, but at least we got the new memory in!

I used the video to look up the memory of the exact same lap top because my daughter's drawing pad's graphics are acting up so I thought about upgrading the RAM but it may the graphics card after watching your diagnosis on speed upgrade and listening to you regarding the slow graphics card these things come with. Thank you ! you did better than the HP site . They do want you to spend the cash for support but You tube is my support and it's free 😁 Great work Bud! now I just need to find a site that will sell the memory!

Useful video, I have this model and upgraded the SSD and replaced the battery, all quite simple. Rather annoyingly I bought this laptop ‘new’ in 2018 but during the process of opening it up I found that half of the screws which should be there were missing. I also used the opportunity to clean the fan as it was filthy with dust. It came with 2 x 4 GB RAM but having read your comments I have decided to leave them because I don’t expect to see much difference if I upgrade.

I am not sure how much I got it for when I bought it for my mother but it was from Bestbuy and on sale. It was before the pandemic came along and made all the prices really insane. Before people started to sell graphics cards for insane markups. You know, befor all the jerks and their bots made it hard to get anything. I recently got a 17-BY4062CL and it has a very similar design but that is really where the similarities end. I bought it when the display on my 7 yr old laptop started getting glitchy. Not sure if I had a bad RAM module or the GPU was dying. All I know is I made sure to snap a pic of it to prove that it was in fact dying and due for a replacement. I pulled my AX200NGW, the ram, and the SATA SSD I had in it out. I plan to use the AX200 in the newer laptop once I get an antenna so I can still have Bluetooth for my mouse (rather than a mouse with a dongle). It looks like I can just put the cable for the WiFi antenna on jack one and Bluetooth on the other. I think if I can find empty space in the case I would be fine sending the extra antenna there. I will just wrap a little electrical tape on it so it can't unexpectedly come in contact with something and damage something. I plan to do it that way because I don't like having to mess with the display, it is a lot of work and a lot of things to go wrong. I am thinking since that one would be AUX for Bluetooth it wouldn't matter where it is since the mouse I plan to use with it is only going to be a few feet away at the very most. I just want Bluetooth so I can keep it rid of dongles hanging out the side.

I have the dk1025wm. it has a terabite hard drive. I ordered a crucial 8 gig ram card (Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) 260-Pin SODIMM Memory - CT8G4SFS824A) which is supposed to fit. I am hoping to add the 8 to the 4 already in there. If not, I will swap the cards. 4 is not enough. The machine locks up, slows way down, and freezes for minutes at a time.

Great video!! I have this same 14 dk0002dx laptop. You wouldn't happen to have an Amazon link for recommended 8G RAM module? I was thinking to install two of them for 16GB total. Just want to make sure I buy something compatible. Thanks!!!

Amazing video my friend!
Totally cleared the situation!
So finally we can upgrade our ram with a new one even if its not at 1866 mhz??

I don't like that when they lie about how much you can use or tell you it is inaccessible. It is only "inaccessible" because some people don't like taking the back off. I still remember computers that all I had to do was take out one screw and remove a small access panel and the RAM and WiFi card would be there or a separate one for the hard drive. I wonder if they are still making laptops like that these days. These are not Apple computers where they try to go for the cleanest look and hide the screws so you will never figure out how to get into it!! It also annoys me when someone seems to think that if both slots are full it isn't upgradeable. They are wrong, they can take the old modules out and put the most the system can handle in there. That may be 32 GB or 64 for some of the newest. It would be like assuming that I am stuck with 8 GB for life just because my sockets have a 4 GB module in each. I know for a fact my Tiger Lake will handle 32 GB and Intel even says it can do 64 GB. I also never once believed that I would be stuck with what is there. I think some people are just afraid to have unused parts sitting around. In a way that is good to have spare parts! If one fails you have a usable one even if it is lower capacity. You could even sell the old ones and get *something* for them!!

Some laptops have pads where a second RAM slot would be too. I have never seen it personally but I have seen a picture. I don't know why they did that unless the bean counters were a little more overzealous than usual when that model was designed. I am sure it wouldn't cost much to add that, the miniscule amount of gold on the pins of it would be worth a ton more than what the part costs and that is not much at all!!

HP wants to sell you more ram for double the cost of the laptop. I bought a crucial 4gb, works fine.

Hey man thank you, I also see the HP forum post about the only 8GB RAM capacity, awesome to discover this is not the whole truth!

Dude I’m still waiting for you to explain how to get rid of the bottleneck of ram

Did it run OK with 32 GB of RAM? I wonder because some laptops are specd with false limits sometimes. They may have made a typo or just didn't know what they are selling. They may also be hoping you believe them and pay more for that upgrade too.

Can you point out the cable connection for the keyboard?

Hi man,

Thanks a lot for your video. I actually have an hp 14-dk0010ca laptop with almost identical specs as yours (with the exception of the processor- a4 vs a9). It however didn't have a soldered in m.2 nvme slot although the motherboard had solder pads for it. I went ahead and ordered an m.2 nvme connector and soldered it in place. The NVME drive I got however was not recognized in the bios or windows (but got warm).

I am thinking that either the m.2 motherboard area is missing some components (capacitors, diodes, resistors, jumpers, maybe a chip, etc.) or the m.2 slot is disabled within some hidden settings in the bios.

I hate to bother you, but if its not too difficult (or perhaps if you already have them) could you please send me some high res pics of the m.2 slot and the components around it...perhaps I will find the missing components and ask a laptop repair guy to solder those components in. If its too difficult, no issues.

If its a bios lock/hidden feature thing, the other idea would be to somehow get the "Advanced" options unlocked for the bios.

Appreciate it,
Thanks,
Nooman

when you said about there being a space for installing a dedicated graphics card, what kinda graphics cards can we use? would love if you could elaborate on this

I didn't catch it if you mentioned it in the video but, do all of these models have the same RAM? Is it safe to just buy the samsung 2666 4gb and plug it in? also would you recommend another CPU or is the I9 sufficient ? thanks man
