Liverpool Presented With Ideal Chance For Federico Chiesa Following Rejection Of £85 Million Offer
Liverpool have been presented with an excellent opportunity to sign Federico Chiesa, as Juventus manager Thiago Motta has indicated that the Italian forward is no longer needed. Chiesa made a significant impact for Juventus last season, scoring 10 goals across all competitions and helping his team secure the Coppa Italia. However, following Max Allegri's dismissal just before the end of the season and Motta's appointment as his successor, several changes are underway at Juve.
Motta has decided to exclude Chiesa from the team, as evidenced by his absence from the squad for a recent match against Brest. After the game, Motta confirmed that Chiesa is available for transfer and will not be reintegrated into the squad. Instead, Motta is focusing on giving opportunities to other players and has indicated that Chiesa needs to find a new club where he can have more playing time.
Motta explained to Sky Sport Italia, "Chiesa, along with others who stayed at home, is out for transfer market reasons, except for Miretti, who is injured. We were clear with them. They are good players, but they need to seek opportunities where they can play more."
This situation may allow Liverpool to revive their interest in Chiesa, following a failed bid in 2021 after his impressive performance in Italy's Euro 2024 victory. Liverpool's previous offer of around £85 million was turned down by Juventus, who considered Chiesa essential to their plans. With Allegri's departure, however, Chiesa's future at Juventus seems uncertain.
Liverpool's new manager, Arne Slot, has yet to make any signings this summer and does not appear to view attacking positions as a priority. Despite a recent 3-0 win over Manchester United, Slot acknowledged areas needing improvement, stating, "We scored some really nice goals, but we didn’t have enough control over the game. United had more chances than just a 3-0 loss. We must continue to improve and ensure we are prepared for high-intensity games."
