Ignorance is indefensible, as is violence. My Dad was a part-time librarian during graduate school, when I was a kid. Nothing was more important in our home than reading, discussing, and learning to think critically. If your response to unfamiliar ideas or potentially difficult topics of conversation with your child is to threaten someone, you're the entire effing problem. The entire world isn't cisgender, white, and christian. Diversity in any organism confers strength. Open your mind, crack a book, and you might just learn something. I have zero tolerance for the attempt by some to drag us into some regressive Gilead.

If there was a rating system on books like there is on movies and video games, that might help.. I have wished for that for about 40 years.. Children and parents should be able to have that information before choosing the book...

There is still such a thing as going too far. Those books have no purpose in a library for children. If people want these books they can buy them online for their own demented use.

It’s really too bad that young people who may be struggling with identity crisis will have less material available to them to help in self discovery.
