They were friends and neighbors with my brother & his family. The oldest son had been at their house the night before. He was watching the Thunder game with my brother and my niece. she drove him home and was the last one to see & talk to Dylan. They are devastated.

How is that youngest child supposed to live a life having to process this grief, shock and trauma? My God how awful.

Speaking from experience, sometimes abusers seem like such nice guys to the public and be evil at the home. As a kid my brothers and I (and our mom) lied about/hid our dads abuse because we didn’t want him to get in trouble and bc we were sooo embarrassed about it. We were very lucky to get out but will have ptsd forever most likely.

He's an annihilator, for whatever reason. Why he left one child alive is truly unexplainable. But so are annihilators.

My father committed suicide in 88. It took me a few months to figure out to call his doctor. I wanted to know if he was drunk or mental or what. The poor doctor just told me " sometimes people just snap". And that is what I had to process.

I don’t think Dad did these murders out of any kindness or love so the boys would not have to grow up knowing the truth, or he wouldn’t leave the youngest child who is perfectly capable of knowing & suffering because of what he did. My theory is that the argument with his wife was enough to cause the three oldest boys to come to her rescue. They were exactly at the age to protect her. The youngest was probably already in bed. In a rage, Dad kills Mom, then the boys who tried to intervene. He stopped them from calling 911 or running for help during his uncontrolled range. He then realized the extent of his actions and took his own life. That scenario makes more sense to me.

Survivors guilt is life altering and debilitating. My dad killed my mom. I always wondered why he didnt point the gun at me next. Why my mom? Why that night? Why?

I went through a similar traumatic event at ten yrs old and it tarnished my entire life. I didnt have community or financial support, which would have been helpful to some degree, but the important thing is that the surviving child is placed with relatives that give him unconditional love and treat him as part of their familybc he's going to need that above anything else. My heart breaks for him.

So very sad.As someone who has lost three family members to suicide. The first was my mother, I came home from school and found her after she shot her self in the head.I have never been the same.Few years later my only brother did the same .In 2014 lost a sister to the same.I was told one time if we could figure out why, it helps with healing.Ive been on meds now about 25 years.I feel so bad for the ten year old that survived, he's got a long road ahead and will get the help he needs, but living with this is so hard. Please take good care of him.❤

It is NOT always a mental health issue! Sometimes people just become/do evil things!

My heart breaks for this 10 year old innocent boy. He has been given a life sentence. I can not begin to imagine his utter horror and deep sorrow. Shocking is an understatement

Jonathan Candy was an evil, murdering coward! If he wanted to kill himself, fine - but leave your wife and kids alone, and let them live their lives without you. You have no damn right to murder them! How dare he.

That pitiful excuse for a man was clearly abusive and controlling with his family, for a long time behind closed doors. His poor wife's only chance of saving herself and the children was to leave his sorry a$$. If only she had. Please ladies - if you are ever in this situation, living with an abuser, GET OUT while you still can.

No-one anywhere knows what truly happens behind closed doors!! Too many times you hear 'what a lovely family'....in fact, on the outside they are, behind closed doors is a whole different story!!!

In my opinion, I believe the 3 boys got shot because they were trying to protect their mother who they loved fiercely. I completely believe that had the 10-year-old woke up, he too would not be here. such a sad story.

My wife’s cousin knew these people and she said there’s more to the story
That they were having marital problems and his wife was planning to leave him, and for some reason not too many people knew about that .
She doesn’t know why that was never mentioned
