Rick James doesn’t get enough recognition for the way he assembled these girls and for writing these songs like he did. He was one of the best songwriters ever step into the industry.

I was OBSESSED with this song as a kid.
Always waiting with a blank tape…. but catching it in the middle, ending, dj said coming up so I recorded beginning of 8 other songs before it & giving up 🤬🤯
Young people have no idea the struggle 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was a young teenage boy when this song came out in the 80's. I'm 51 years old now, but still listening to some great 1980's jams. I miss those days.

The lady with the beads is amazing. She is like a mix between an Egyptian queen and a warrior goddess.

This is my infant son’s favorite song. It’s the only one that gets him quiet. Thank you Rick James and the Mary Jane Girls 😭😂

March, 2023, The Santa Monica Pier. I'm visiting from Florida with my wife and two young kids. A man about my age (59) is break dancing to this song. (Mostly pop and lock with some whole body spins around his right fist planted on the wooden platform on which he performed) I drop a $20 in his tip jar and tell him how much I love this music and his art form. Bless Rick James. 80s forever!

Everything about that synth heavy, electronic early-to-mid 80s groove (but you can still hear the real instruments) is hypnotic. Give me Mary Jane Girls, Klymaxx, Cherrelle, Angela Bofill any day of the week! Thank you Rick James, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, & so many others for that sound/that era!
