my concern is that over time, employers and other figures will start viewing the *lack* of social media presence as being suspicious. if people are asking for social media passwords as a condition of employment, then what happens if they decide that if you don't have a social media account, or if your social media accounts are too bland, then that means you must be hiding something.

wow, this definitely got me thinking. I have always been careful of what I have posted on social media however going back after a period of time and deleting my tweets or posts is definitely something to consider. I can definitely see where technology can go so far creating a blurred line around privacy.

what's funny is how people kept saying "oh he's just trying to sell you something". first of all, he makes it clear he's trying to sell something, so that's not a revelations. secondly, he also doesn't make it seem like his product is the only solution. He could have made a much better sales pitch if the ONLY reason he was saying this was to sell his app. He could have made it clear that on a site like Twitter, what you post is archived after a certain amount of time for the library of congress to make available to researchers... and if you think that's not going to lead to further profiling, then you don't understand the purpose of research.... which is, simply put, to recognize patterns. if ALL he was doing was making a sales pitch, he would have mentioned something like that and then made a vague promise about protecting you against that. Instead, he even gave a simpler alternative than paying money for his app - delete your tweets after a certain amount of time; there are free apps that do exactly that for you all over the internet. same for deleting texts. there used to be sites that would delete all of your posts and start facebook fresh for you... but yeah, this is a thing people have been saying for YEARS.

What he says makes perfect sense.  I applied for a job one time & they required my password to facebook.  Some of my friends were the biggest potheads in the world and I never anticipated being asked for my password.  They got my password & I never got the job.  

Plus later on I had some haters trying to misconstrue some comments.  Folks there are some people that will literally try to ruin your life by using your own words against you.

I don't think it's more about getting arrested, but rather, getting exploited if you become famous (or potentially losing a job if you have something really stupid posted)

though am big fan of Mr Cuban, read his book 3 times "so far"
yet the this interesting about this video is that he pitched a pain then he provided a solution that is not 100% relevant, Mr Cuban pitched tracking, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, pinning, (nothing about chatting!), then said the solution is i will delete your chatting history
and for that reason, am out :)
