Demystifying Homogeneous Analysis with Safety Performance Functions for FHWA Reporting

Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) reports and Strategic Highway Safety Plans are required by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Homogeneous analysis with safety performance functions (SPF) is one way to provide the needed information to determine which projects should be highlighted in these reports and plans to help improve the safety of our roads. Our goal is to share what it is, and how we have helped DOTs utilize it, cutting away the complexities of the statistics and showing how easy and effective it can be to implement for your department.
