There is one key element about this game that makes it good for busy people. The clock only counts when you move.... if you stop, so does the time. If your kids need something, you can just walk away, and the time stops. When you return, move the ship and the time starts again.

One thing I appreciate is how they didn't go full-on generic horror in this game. What I mean is everything is *just* eerie enough to keep you on edge, not make you spasm out of your chair with some cheap jumpscare.
It all works together to fit the player into the role of a regular fisherman who's tossed into an eldrich world they know nothing about.

It's a perfect game in my book - a fantastic example of "show, don't tell" done excellently. The game mechanic is where the atmosphere comes from, not something you do to move the story forward but actually the story itself. Love the discreet yet powerful storytelling, the perfectly pitched atmosphere, the fact that it encourages you to build up your tolerance to the challenges gradually instead of attacking you with cheap scares. Masterfully done.

Just beat it last night! A+ game mechanics, super intuitive, interesting story (if you’re willing to dive in and read the notes), consistent exploration payoffs, a good length for a $20 indie game (~12hrs but room for more) and just damn fun to play. Overall, I’d give it a 9.6/10

This game is great, I love cozy games that have a twist to them and aren’t boring and this hit my sweet spot. It’s perfect for the nights I come home after work and don’t want to have a whole hours long gaming session and invest a lot of time and mental effort. Excellent indie game and I happily bought the DLC to support.

Man I downloaded it for the fishing without realizing the horror aspect, imagine my mind when people kept talking about 'what' was out there

As a 36 year old married man with a busy stressful job (law enforcement), I barely have time to play games anymore. I used to be a hardcore gamer but still keep up with it all. (I even still keep my gaming pc quite up to date with the latest goodies). When I play I really have limited time, and when I do I want it to fully engage me in a good story with good mechanics. A friend showed me this game but was quite sceptical. These types of games are not usually my cup of tea (I prefer story driven single player action games like god of war, horizon, uncharted…).
When I first booted the game I was impressed by the atmosphere, it helped that I had no clue about the story behind the game, I just let it surprise me. And surprise it did, such as the spooky elements and “paranormal” skills.
I must say I’ve sunk (no pun intended) many hours into Dredge already, playing it at my own pace. No rush. It’s great. I can play hours on end, or perhaps just 30 minutes, it doesn’t matter. You can advance as you wish. The freedom is amazing. It’s great that the game doesn’t hold your hand.
Simple looking yet quite the depth to this game.
