9.12 Poisson Regression: Why are model coefficients the log rate ratio?

This video goes over an explanation of why the model coefficients are log rate ratios. Or, why when we exponentiate the model coefficients do we get rate ratios?

These videos support a course I teach at The University of British Columbia (SPPH 500), which covers the use of regression models in Health Research. These videos were put together to use for remote teaching in response to COVID.

Thanks for the whole explanations! I followed the whole course! However in the video's you say they are a few more weeks where you e.g. discuss over/under dispersion. Is this also available? I can't seem to find it.

This is an amazing video series! Thank you for making this. Would you be able to discuss Bayesian analysis in R?

Hi Marin, thank you for the lessons, this is very helpfull. Still I am confused what test i should use, this is my research: I showed the participants certain video's with or without testing variable, and afterwards I tested the participants with a regression test and asked them their age as well. Which got me to the next variables: with or without testing variable (Y/N), age group and questions correct or incorrect answered.

Now I want to know if the testing variable is more, less or evenly important for the different agegroups to reproduce the knowledge presented in the video's.

Hopefully you can help me out, or can link me to one of your video's that explains a statistical test with an (1) outcome variable, (2) testing variable and (3) covariable. All categorical.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Marin, thank you for these amazing lessons, these tutorials has been extremely helpful to supplement what I've been learning in school. Would you mind to go through the general additive model and the mixed model if you have a chance as well?
