Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Labor’s tax cuts were “an obvious move” following Tuesday’s 2025 federal budget.

“It’s not great for the budget, and you don’t get much out of it. I might’ve even been tempted to go bigger if I were them,” Mr Clennell said.

“It’s 10 per cent of the deficits going forward, but when your deficits are that big, does it really matter?

“It gave them a headline today in every paper that wasn’t four years of deficits, and Jim Chalmers is the king of spin - he would’ve known that.”

Dutton needs to come back with gas retention for the country to at least 20% with us buying it at cost, with no negotiation with any of the gas producer's. Tax cuts will mean nothing when the energy prices drop significantly, you'll have business on side as well as the public as the cost of electricity will drop significantly. Energy is the cost that drives everything, it's not rocket science.
